Chris Knoch, founded Big Squid to bring his 16+ years of experience to build truly data-driven solutions for our clients’ specific challenges. Chris pulls from a wide array of experience across technology companies & consulting organizations, while still acting as a day to day practitioner and industry evangelist. He loves the challenge of building solutions in the fast-growing worlds of Business Intelligence, Big Data & Predictive Analytics, while staying true to his “data to dollars” roots in digital marketing & ad technology across platforms like Google & Facebook. Prior to founding Big Squid Chris served in product & client-focused bioship roles at companies like Omniture, Adobe, 360i, Kenshoo and IgnitionOne. He also held marketing bioship roles at companies like AT&T and Ready Financial. Over the years he has built data-driven solutions for clients such as Nike, Zappos, Shutterfly, Crate&Barrel, Expedia, Sears, Best Buy, American Express, CenturyLink and many more. Chris earned his bachelor’s degree in computer information systems from Georgia State University graduating with highest honors. When he’s not working, Chris loves spending time with his family, including his two daughters building robots & doing fun science experiments - and also princess tea time. He also has “one stinky boy” according to his two girls.
As VP of Operations, Brian manages all back-office processes and systems including Finance, Accounting, Legal, Human Resources, and IT. Brian has been living and breathing Cloud Software for 17 years with large technology companies including Adobe, inContact, and Omniture focused on operational excellence throughout his career. Brian sees tremendous opportunity to capture the market in predictive analytics as in his own experience he has struggled with accurately forecasting the future of his business outcomes. Brian has been very blessed with a wonderful wife and four beautiful children, who continue to amaze him every single day. Travel is a deep passion of Brian’s and he and his family were fortunate enough to travel around the country in an RV for 9 months. In the summer Brian can be seen boating with his family and trying to grow the best corn and tomatoes in his garden.
Nick is an experienced research analyst with focus on quantitative model development in human behavior, including applications to consumer preferences and investor decisions. Nick has an extensive resume of published research on the intersection of behavioral finance, quantitative insights, and investment strategy. Interested in creative yet effective data-driven strategies to address key business problems and drive actionable insight.
Brian brings 15 years of data and analytics experience to Big Squid with a strong reputation for utilizing data to drive business performance improvements both as an in-house business bio and as a consultant. With time at start-ups including Backcountry.com and Omniture, and a collective decade in professional services, Brian has a recipe for customer acquisition, cultivation, and retention based on a backbone of value-centric solutions.
Outside of the office, you can find Brian fulfilling a lifelong quest for the perfect turn in deep wasatch powder, touring the alpine on his mountain bike and exploring the red rock deserts of Utah.
Matt Brown has been selling technology solutions for over 20 years and spent the last 10 years at EMC whom was recently acquired by Dell Technologies. Matt has channel sales, direct sales and sales management experience. He has spent the last three years as a District Sales Manager where he ran a $45M business.
Matt is responsible for growing market share, revenue and driving demand for the entire Big Squid portfolio. In addition Matt will be focused on expanding the relationship with Domo, recruiting and building out a sales team throughout the United States.
Matt is originally from the Chicago area but currently resides in Park City, Utah with his wife Jill and his two children Nils and Ivy. Matt enjoys skiing, biking and hockey.
Rob Martin is Vice President Engineering at Big Squid, running both the standard product lines (like Predictive Tool Kit) and Big Squid Labs projects including new product ideas and custom applications for our customers. His background covers embedded (product design and embedded systems), industrial (factory floor automation), programming (25+ years experience), and operations (running hundreds of servers at a time). He has built a team at Big Squid based on creating simple, demonstrably correct code using a development method called functional programming, a topic he teaches and speaks on both in the US and Europe. Rob also focuses on building greater gender diversity in software engineering, which is part of the reason why Big Squid's development team is more than 50% women. Outside of work, he's a parent to a son with autism and a daughter who's a professional actor in Hollywood, and occasionally moonlights as a blacksmith.
